Belarc advisor could not tell the brand of the hard drive. I do not want to open the case (for personal reason).

I will appreciate if you can suggest a good freeware that will clone the hard drive into an external USB HD to a folder that I select. The external has some data on it so I will create a folder for this cloning. I do not want an image rather I prefer it to be folders and files also like the source. Thanks.

if all you want is folders and files then just use windows copy and paste. no other software required.

Macurium Reflect - Free Edition ... the $40 on the front page is for commercial / business environment

Paragon backup & recovery 10 - Home use and includes "differential backup" ... images can be mounted for file / folder extraction similar to windows explorer view

    As for user files

Areca Backup ... Incremental, differential and full backup support
    Cobian Backup ... similar

  7. There is no reason to know the brand of the hard drive. All the software needs is to recognize it.

There is no such thing as "cloning" a drive to a folder. To another drive, partition, or image file, that's it. A folder cannot be made bootable, all you need is a simple copy operation with "show all files" turned on. No extra software needed at all.

You want to copy files, not a hard drive.

Just copy them over from the source again...unless you didn't "copy" them?
