I have a dvd with vob files that I need to merge into one file before after or during a conversion to mpeg.

Any suggestions how I can do that?

I've found converters, but I'm not finding something that will merge.

For instance - just to be clear - I have a dvd with 30 mins of record time, then a break, then an hour of record time, then a break, then 45 minutes of record time - I think my math is off there (no more then 2 hours on one dvd). Anyway I"m sure you get the picture. I need all those pieces "pieced together/merged" so they created one mpg file.

    In advance, thank you

    Using free tools:
vob2mpg. But if they are separate tracks you will get one for each. Then try vobmerge.

    Using commercial tools:
Or use a mpg/Dvd editor like videoredo, mpeg-vcr and import the vob files and join.

You don't need to convert to mpeg. The native mpeg video is already inside the VOB container.

VobMerge has a little quirk in that it works best when you send the output file to the same folder as the source VOB files.

You can extract the mpeg stream from the vob with vob2mpg, or you can change the .vob extension to .mpg.

    Well thank you very kindly.

What are the quality issues changing the extension?
