i believe i have a unique problem with encoding ati aiw captured videos.

my problem is as follows:

i have used the aiw mmc reg edit tool and followed the intructions in this web site for setting up the card. the video captures are quite satisfactory. however, if i burn these directly to discs, my philips dvd player reads them, but freezes up. so, therefore i have to make them compliant. i originally used tmpgenc to demux and remux, which worked perfectly for a few weeks, then i began having audio/video sync problems. i then started using tmpgenc's mpeg cut/join tool, which fixed the problem for a while, but then the audio/video sync problem happened again. for the last two weeks i have been re-encoding the video using tmpgenc, which again has worked for a while but stopped 2 days ago. now my encoded vcd's are all out of sync.
i have been doing daily recordings of scfi's b5 series, burning the discs at night, shutting the computer down, then restarting it in the morning. i do a weekly disk defrag. the ati aiw recording settings have not been changed since using the ati aiw mmc reg tool. the mmc reg tool settings are as follows:

1.15 mb/sec
99% motion est.
bit flag set at 1
constant bitrate

i have been downloading the newest versions of tmpgenc regularly. just to see if that was the problem, i reloaded an older version, re-encoded two videos, and had the same sync problem.

also i have no luck using either soundforge or goldwave editor for fixing the sync issues. when i remux, there is either no change in sync, or the problem is worse.

i am so perplexed i am almost to the point of using the vcr again. please help!

my computer specs are as follows:
900 mhz athlon
650 mb ram
30 gb hdd
ati aiw 128 pro video card
24x buslink cd burner
16x dvd player
