Does anybody have any experience with this?

Can it be done via Component or HDMI with a Blackmagic Intensity card or a Matrox MXO2?

Get a blu-ray reader/writer and copy the video/data. If encrypted you can try MakeMKV.

    Thanks for your help.

I'm rather confused by the BD Drives available - is there one particular drive you would suggest I go for?

I'm not a Mac fanboy, but I work with some. It's my understanding that Apple refuses to pay the licensing fee to BluRay so that means that OS X doesn't officially support any BluRay drives. You'll have to get into the esoteric world of Mac hackers to see if there is any unofficial support. I have no idea.

I'm also not sure what you mean by your subject about wanting to capture BluRay onto a Mac. You're going to need to be more specific about your desire. Input from a camcorder? TV captures in HD? BluRay ripping? If it's the latter, you need Windows.

The concern occurs with protections: the BluRay corp wants a low level implementation of the bluRay support, and Apple just wants a "software", and not an "system modification".
When they will finalize the deal, we will have access to BluRay (Apple's burner framework still supports some HD burning, but you have no way to use it actually )

    bye
    For DVD, iPad, HD, connected TV, … iMovie & FCPX? MovieConverter-Studio 3 (01/24/2015) - Handle your camcorder's videos? even in 60p or 60i? do a slow-motion? MovieCam.

Component output from your player works fine...done it many times.
