  1. Hello. I have been searching for a program like this for some time now. I thought I got something real special.

Here's my project for myself. I am in a music technology class. I have created some music videos. They are made by getting youtube clips and putting them into imovie. then I stich together the video I want. I then compose music loops in garageband. put the loops into Abelton Live and mix the soundtrack. I then drop everything over into Garageband (Mastered audio and video). Then I export to disk (.mov format). I tried uploading this to youtube, but youtube only likes mpeg format. so i am trying to convert.

First problem. When i drag the .mov film over to the ffmpegx 0.0.9y, it says it's unrecognizable. when i set everything, and hit encode. it gets done way to fast, dings like an oven and then produces absolutely nothing. I save to the desktop and it is not there. here's the info from the blue "i" button.

FFmpeg version CVS, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard
Mac OSX universal build for ffmpegX
    libavutil version: 49.0.0
    libavcodec version: 51.9.0
    libavformat version: 50.4.0

    Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from '/Users/Preston/Desktop/Jupiter Belt Movie copy.mov':
    Duration: 00:06:16.0, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 2726 kb/s
    Stream #0.0(eng), 29.97 fps(r): Video: h264, yuv420p, 720x540
Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: aac, 44100 Hz, stereo
Stream #0.2(eng): Audio: aac, 44100 Hz, stereo
    Incorrect frame rate

the incorrect frame rate stands out.

to sum t up. I want to go from .mov to anything youtube will understand. I searched for answers, but most seem to involve other formats. Thanks in advance.

It's not true that YouTube only accepts MPG format videos. They accept all kinds of stuff including MOV:
Unless you're a professional video producer, we recommend that you save your videos as either QuickTime .MOV, Windows .AVI, or .MPG files— these are the most common formats and they work well within our system. We specifically recommend the MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format at 640x480 resolution with MP3 audio.

I don't know how you screwed up your MOV videos as I don't use that software. Maybe someone else can help. And your source is other YouTube videos? They must look great with all the reencoding.

  3. well I got some stuff to work. If you like to take a look you can see one of the films I put together: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVPYE0qLMwI

BUt I still have trouble with one of them, but it I might get it figured out.

actually the videos turn out pretty nicely. I have a nice little program known as MPEG Streamclip that takes care of all my youtube needs except re uploading.

I forgot to mention that the audio I was getting from youtube with a .mov movie was the raw audio of the videos I sampled, which I deleted when I moved the video over to GB to compose music for. so it never should've been there, which is why I stopped using the .mov and wanted to use MPG. But it's starting to work now.
