I don't want to install ffdshow along with Shark007's code pack. The former I'm using because I couldn't get other things working as well as I could with just installing Shark's packs. Now the only problem is that I need ffdshow to run Ripbot - doesn't his packs include that though?

I would ditch Shark007's code pack and just install ffdshow and haali media splitter for 99% of your encoding needs, ripbot will work with those codecs, most experienced users here will recommend the same and to forgot codecs packs.

What kind of audio problem was it?Was audio not playing with the mkv?If you want mov codecs then install quicktime alternative, codecs packs are notorious for creating codecs conflicts. If the audio is ac3 or dts then you need to install ac3filter and AC3ACM.

But the funny thing is that I have no problems when using Shark007. Only now because Ripbot is dependent on ffdshow as standalone install. I do mind having to install individual apps just get something working though

How about if I install ffdshow with Shark007 already installed? That I would cause problems though

Its best to install only the individual codecs needed, sharkys installs everything including others you dont need, did you try the codecs i mentioned?Codecs arent just apps, they are needed to run certain video and audio processes.

I actually just needed to edit something in the registry to get ripbot to recognize ffdshow was installed with Shark007. Now no problems.

I prefer just installing one (or two considering 64bit) app to get video / audio playback. Whenever I go the individual route, I always run into issues. It may not be ideal, but it works just fine for me.
