  1. Not sure if I should've posted this in this section or the newbie section, but here goes....

I am compiling a dvd for a friend of mine...
she has about 25 video/movies (shot on a handheld cam) ranging from 15 seconds to about 25 minutes
what she wants me to do is a makeshift slideshow, but with the videos
with no menus, it starts directly at the first video, then finishes at the last, with transitions BETWEEN videos, to go to a blank screen

i have two programs that do half the job
wondershare dvd slideshow builder...which does transitions between the videos, but you HAVE to have a starting menu and you don't have control over the actual menu, how the dvd starts, etc
I also have dvd-lab pro, which gives me way more control over the dvd authoring...(as far as how the dvd starts, how it ends, linking up the different video files) but, to my knowledge, doesn't do transition from one movie to the other! (i may be wrong about that, but I've searched like heck and could only find a way to transition between menus...)

does anyone know of a program that allows me to have complete control (in at least a semi-user friendly manner like either of these programs) over the authoring part of the dvd AND let me transition between video files on the dvd?

    thanks!

If this program outputs to the typical VIDEO_TS folder.....just use that.....after you remove the stupid menu
it creates with something like DVDShrink. Take their dumb menu out of there and keep the video.

  3. Basically you could make the video in Windows Movie Maker. And afterwards convert into mpg or m2v/ac3 and use Gui for dvdauthor/DVDauthor GUI for the authoring.

DVD slideshow GUI might be able to do what you're after if the videos are in a dvd compliant frames pr. sec rate: PAL=25 or NTSC=29.97.

If the clips have one of those framerates and they are in avi you should be able to import them right away. If those videos are in some other formats you'll need to write a simple script for each of them:

In notepad write for each clip:

Directshowsource("full path of your clip here")

And save the textfile with a .avs extention. Now DSG might be able to import it depending on the wrapper and codec used for the clips. If this doesn't work you'll have to look into the avisynth docs on how to import various formats.

DVD slideshow GUI produces "slideshows"/clips with transitions between them, author them and burns to a dvd with or without menus.
