So I was wondering something with the trend of dlc only content. Mainly I was thinking about the dsware for the dsi. Now I wouldn't want to buy a whole new dsi when i already have a ds lite just for dlc games. Wouldn't it be a good idea for the game companies to offer the option of physical copies of dlc only games?

There is a precedent for this. At least rockband sells Track packs on disc for songs that are featured on the download stores that aren't on the original game discs.

Wouldn't this seem like a natural concept?

Also what about Wii Ware or Xbox Live or the Playstation Network? I know all about "exlcusivity" but wouldn't it make sense to offer another option for buyers?

Edit - Yes I know there is added production costs where as the network releases don't require a physical process at all. But it would seem like you'd want to reach as many users as possible.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

yeah, there've been several DSI titles lately that I want, but having only a DSLite I can't get them...
I keep waiting for the prices to drop on PSP games now that the new model is DLC only, but the discs are still just as pricey as before.

Nintendo wants to sell as many dsi as possible so i dont think they will want us ds lite owners to get dsi only dlc.

Yep johns0 is right Downloadable content.

I guess I assumed since I mentioned Wii Ware and the other services for xbox and ps3 that it would be obvious. Guess I was mistaken.

That must be new, because I've never heard it called DLC from the content providers I work with.

Must be user/reviewer slang than not industry terminology.

If you watch xplay on g4 they routinely call it dlc.

And actually I guess I should distinguish between downloadable content and downloadable games.

I guess maps and expansion levels are true "dlc" while full games are just downloadable games. But I guess they combine to dlc.

That's very likely. Providers have slang and jargon not used by end-users.
