Greetings,

I'm having a problem with some videos that I've recorded... They're all AVI files, and they're all rather large as I recorded them with FRAPS and than intended to shrink the files down once I had edited them. But for some reason, as of today the videos are playing with a... well... I'm not sure how to explain it... Boxy lines keep appearing throughout the videos, and these lines weren't ever there before.

Now... Last Thursday one of my harddrives started to die, which unfortunately was the drive that had these clips stored. I brought it over to a repair shop and they replaced the harddrive and copied over the data, and I got it back on Monday. Before than the clips were playing without any problems, and I didn't check them after I got my PC back, but when I checked them today all of them have a strange pixelated jaggedness to them that keeps flashing on the screen.
I don't know if it's simply a problem with how they're playing, a problem with a codec, or if they were damaged because of the dying harddrive. The other files I have on the drive that were copied over seem to be just fine, but the videos are not.
I tried playing them with Windows Media Player, VLC Media Player, and Creative MediaSource 5 Player, and all show the same thing. While the entire video doesn't have these lines on each and every frame, it does have them on many frames so the bars/lines flash off and on every so often.

This is what I'm seeing...

I can also upload an example video if it helps any.

Does anyone know what might be causing this, or if they were damaged because of the drive? I'm really hoping it isn't the latter and that they can be fixed, as it took me three months to record everything... ugh.
