A couple of my files won't play.

I have XviD installed. Other XviD files will play just fine. GSpot says I have the codec installed.

I told it to render and got this:

    Screenshot from GSpot.

I googled "failed to connect output pin" and "avi splitter" and a lot of links came up, but none of them seemed to be the same type of thing I'm having.

One of them said something about it possibly being junk in the header, so I ran it through AVI-Mux which was supposed to fix that, and the filesize changed, but it still won't play.

Another post said something about hardware acceleration (but I can't imagine that affecting the rendering)... I did indeed turn it off in Windows Media Player, but no luck.

I tried reinstalling XviD (just in case) but that hasn't changed anything.

The video will play in VLC but only has sound in Windows Media Player. It won't open at all in VirtualDub.

Um, I'm using Windows XP, I have a Dell XPS, I probably have other codecs installed (DivX for one) but I tend to lean towards paranoia and only install the individual codecs I need, no codec packs. The version of XviD is Koepi's most recent release: 1.2.2-07062009.

I can't think of anything else that would be useful to share about my self/computer but if I missed anything just let me know.

(Oh, I did search the boards here a little too, but it can be hard to find something if you don't have a specific word to search for. Either way I didn't find anything helpful.)

I would try repair the avi using divfixpp. Make a copy of the avi first.

No luck, unless I'm not using divfix to it's fullest extent. I told it to repair and it made a copy of the file which also won't play.
