    Hello again gentlemen

I'm on my way "almost" thanks to all of you.

I want to capture the most amount of raw data (I plan to discard the tapes after successful capture). I'm going to guess AVI type 1 or 2 ?. When I use studio 12 with the Dazzle DVC100 hardware, I click the capture format settings AVI BEST it says Full DV Quality. Is this DV-AVI, AVI type 1 or AVI type 2?

With DV, Type 1 and Type 2 are just two different ways to store the audio with the video. Type 2 is more commonly used with VFW based editors like VirtualDub and encoders like TMPGEnc. You can convert between the two storage methods easily enough. It depends on which format your editor/encoder needs.

'Full DV Quality' would probably just be (NTSC) 720 X 480 @29.97 fps and 48000 Hz PCM audio. About 13GB/hr. It could be Type 1 or Type 2. I don't know what Dazzle uses, but I would guess Type 2.
