I see at Frye's they have 3-D ready PC monitors
What the heck does that mean? How is a 3-D PC monitor diffderent than a regular PC monitor?

They display in 3D, not 2D. Each eye sees a different picture giving the illusion of 3D (ever see those red/blue glasses used for old 3D movies or comic books?). There are different technologies. Some require liquid crystal shutter glasses. Some require that you sit in a particular location, etc. You must be using software that supports this, of course.
Get yourself some anaglyph glasses and watch this video:

The 3D monitors can do that in full color.
