I'm trying to use Avidemux to convert some MP4 videos to be compatible with a mobile phone.

It wants 15 fps, the MP4 I have is 29.97.

If I do "Video/frame rate/change frame rate" and make it "15", the video is indeed 15 fps, but it's the same number of frames, so now the video is twice as long.

How do I do this and keep the same duration?

Why not convert the files with XMediaRecode or FormatFactory? They come with a couple of nice presets to make the output most compatible. I've tried both, thumbs up

My daughter installed Format Factory once, and it took me days to clean up the mess.
It installs a whole bunch of codecs, in places it wants to, whether you have already installed the same or other codecs elsewhere, and makes its versions the defaults. So never again with that.
    But I'll look at XMedia.

    Tried XMediaRecode.
Exactly what I needed. It has presets for dozens of mobile devices, including the model my daughter has. So just had to select that and go.

It's yet another ffmpeg front end, efficient and doesn't screw up my codecs.
