Extract the dts with virtualdubmod, under streams->Stream list->demux.
Convert the dts to ac3 using eac3to.
Mux back the new ac3 to the avi using virtualdubmod or avimuxgui.

Or maybe it works directly with xvid4psp, open avi, choose format avi, under video choose copy and under audio choose ac3. Save. But I'm not sure how it handles the dts to ac3 conversion.

  3. hi Baldrick, as always thanks for your help... whilst waiting for reply ive used AVIDEMUX to 'save' the DTS Audio then used eac3to to convert to AC3 - is this method OK..?

i will have a bash with avimuxgui now - cheers

    avidemux should also work fine.

Right click on avimuxgui.exe and choose properties and under compatibility enable compatibility mode windows xp and it should start at least.
