  1. Hi, I have some HD clips from my video camera which are all in avchd/mts format. They playback ok in media player classic but with no audio, they play with audio but choppy video in VLC player and with media player classic home cinema I get neither video or sound, does anyone know why ?
I can load the clips into adobe premiere for editing and they work fine in there. Also would that be a good program for adding some good opening titles etc ?
    Thanks.

  2. What format is your audio? use mediainfo

Try installing haali media splitter + ffdshow + ac3filter

MPCHC should work, if you configure it properly for your audio & video in the options. Another option is KMplayer or SMPlayer or Splash

What do you have in mind for titles? Premiere has a titler than can handle most types of simple titles. If you want something more advanced with motion graphics and something more fancy, you could use after effects

  3. Thanks for the advice. I have the software you mentioned already so I think it might be an option I have not selected somewhere. MPCHC plays with no picture but perfect sound.
Here is a shot of my options screen in mpchc

  4. If you are using mpchc , you need to enable the source filter, proper audio and video in the transform filters. Look under options=>internal filters (it's the heading right below your screenshot in the tree view)

For source filter enable mpeg ps/ts/pva, for transform filters enable h.264 since it's avchd. Double click it to configure the options (e.g. decoding thread number for multicore). Or if you have dxva compatible graphics card, enable the dxva option for smoother playback. If you're getting choppy playback, it's probably because your computer is too old

Or you could go the other route and install the other programs (haali splitter, ffdshow, ac3filter) , which will enable directshow playback on other video players like MPC
