I've created a VCD, burned it to a CDRW with Nero 5.5 and it plays on my DVD player until I place a label on it. Then I seem to get the menu. When I make a selection it gets stuck on "loading". I really want this label does anyone have any suggestions?Pleeeeeaaaaase

1) Don't use labels. If you do, use the Fellowes labels, but understand that they very very often cause problems with playback.
2) Don't use NERO. That's probably not related to your label issue, but a good policy anyway.
3) When in doubt, consult suggestion #1. -
Actually, I ended up buying a new DVD player. Found out the RCA one I had was crap. Bought the cheap Apex one and I couldn't be happier. It played with the label (yep, it was Fellowes) and everyone I made for other people have worked so far as well.
Curious though, why don't you like Nero? I absolutely LOVE it! It was so easy and I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever: for VCD's, data, or Music files. I Love the ease of the label maker that came with it too. -
Answer to everything you just said as far as problems go... YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE.
NERO is unbelievably bad, and if you ever try anything "exotic" (VBR bitrates, chapters, menus), you will see what I mean.
I have to say, sadly, the Apex might have been a bad move. Their DVD-ROM units (the player inside) are notoriously bad. In fact, I'm selling mine on E-Bay for an enthusiast to use (and they can replace the crappy drive). Very, very short life span on the drives. Beware. -
I have been using CD STomper labels for over 2 years and have not had one problem, I guess I have used about 600-700 CD labels without a hitch, APEX players are ok but if you want one that plays everything, quite and the picture looks fantastic go with the Daewoo 5700 for $99.

Well, yes, don't use Nero, there are better options out there (to burn my VCDs I use Ulead DVD Movie Factory or Roxio Easy CD Platinum). I have used tons of labels and discs always played OK in my Aiwa DVD, as well as on my small portable Panasonic DVD. But I only used Fellowes/Neato labels, along with their free labelling software which you can download from their site that's all you'll ever need.

...Best option of all is a VCDIMAGER GUI (TSCV is one of the best for SVCD)... All the programs mentioned for burning are substandard and spotty.
Now, just to re-iterate... from a personal experience of being burned by this problem myself...
Stay clear of Apex AND Daewoo... both are cheap, and the cheap is in the ROM unit... people says that both players are awesome are merely lucky... durability is NOT what it should be on any of these...
When the drive goes, the first discs you'll notice problems on will likely be ones with labels (added weight, however small)... better drives will handle labels well...
I supposed you could replace the Apex drive with a better PC-DVD-ROM... if you're up to the challenge...
I guess if it plays now, wait to complain until later!
