  1. I just purchased an AVCHD camcorder and have a couple of clips that I would like to edit in windows movie maker. I cannot seem to import the files on my desktop (preferred workstation - vista 64bit) but if I edit on my laptop (vista 32bit) in WMM I have no problem.

I've installed k-lite codec pack on googling and that now allows me to watch the files on the desktop in WMP but still can't import into WMM

When making longer videos with complex editing I will be using Premier Pro which I am familiar with, but for quick videos just to be uploaded to youtube to share with family I prefer to use WMM as it's simple and does the job.

    please advise.

    Thank you.

What did you install in your laptop to get it to work? But I guess you don't know. . Maybe another video software included some codecs that works in wmm. Maybe the software that comes with the camera.

But I would probably JUST try install ffdshow and haali media splitter. Uninstall the codec pack.

And you are not alone with WMM import problems. I can import mpeg2 fine on one system and not another one for example.
