    Hello all

When backing up some DVD's there are forced subtitles. However, when you back them up this information is lost so when you play the DVD you have to manually select the correct subtitle track.

Is there any way of editing the DVD structure before burning it to disc so that you can have one of the subtitle tracks play automatically as soon as the disc starts?

    Many thanks. eon

    DVDRemake:
Highlight the movie PGC in DVD tree -> go to pre-commands tab, right-click on first line -> 'insert command' -> select 'system set instructions' menu, tick 'subpicture track' + 'direct' there. Select from dropdown: track#ON and confirm. After simulation (export test DVD mode) 'file/export modified files' and replace ifo's.
Something like that is also possible with PGCEdit which is free.

Since you didn't say, I have no idea how you're backing up DVDs, but in my experience what you say isn't correct. Any subtitle track that played by default originally should play by default after backing up the DVD. Anyway, PGCEdit can do the job easily enough.
This method allows you to jump to any menu or title on insertion of your DVD, setting the audio and subtitle streams of your choice and by-passing anything in your way (e.g. annoying FBI warnings, studio promos and Dolby Digital trailers) and having all the DVD's internal registers set exactly as they would be if the commands followed the original path.
The guide looks more complex than it is. You trace through the Main Menu to the Subtitles Menu, set the track you want and then back to the Main Menu. Then you Toggle a Pre/Post Breakpoint, repeat the trace, and then go PGC->Jump To PGC Upon DVD Insert.

I always use DVDFab to backup my discs and it always removes the forced subs as I only do a movie only backup, not the full disc.

However, I have found a way in IfoEdit to do the job - quick and simple - just need to add one line of infomation.

    Thanks for all your help.
