I have an audio commentary (just the audio file) from a rare earlier release of a film. I have this movie's later dvd release, which doesn't have this audio commentary. I am wondering how I might author a dvd version which would have the audio commentary added into the dvd as an option.
Can it be done with TMPGENC DVD Author?

Demux, remux with the added audio track, stick it back into the original DVD. Here's a guide. It's about adding a new subtitle track, but the principle's the same with audio. Follow Method 2, skip the stuff about the subs, and make sure to follow Baldrick's link about updating the IFOs to 'turn on' the new audio. You won't be able to access it in the audio menu, but can easily switch to it using your remote control:
