Is is possible my system drop frames because it's getting old?
I'm asking this because I'm using the exact same system as I did 2 years ago. No frame dropping for 2 years, suddenly it's dropping like crazy.
Here's my system:
Winfast Palmtop TV
ASUS P5GZ-MX motherboard (Intel Chipset)
Dual Core 1.6 GHz
1 GB RAM
WinXP Pro (clean install)
Onboard VGA n Soundcard (Realtek)
Which part is mostlikely be the problem?

Oh sorry, I'm a little confused where to post.
Usually this is a Hard Disc problem. Also windows became "heavy" without maintenance.
So run a de-fragment on your hard discs and plan a clean windows install if that continues.
If it remains, you have a HDD problem, so you may have to replace it.
O ic. Which HDD should I check, the system's HDD or the target file's HDD?
Thx for the help

Aye aye sir. Thx for the heads up.
You could also be dropping frames if your source is 29.97 fps and you're capturing at 23.976 or some different fps.I think, therefore i am a hamster.
Are you using an IDE hard drive? Is it running in PIO mode instead of DMA? Go to Device Manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers -> Primary IDE Channel -> Properties -> Advanced Settings. See what the Transfer Modes are set to.
They left out a few other's which should be taken into account after 2 years
1: The possible impact of specific microsoft updates
2: Av upgrades / updates
Why not put in more memory? 1gb isn't much.
Ok guys, I've de-fragmented the HDD and it improves alot, but still there's frame dropping (alot less). Now I'm trying scandisk for bad sectors. I'll let you know the results later.
Thx a million guys.
Try something like smart defrag, it's free.
