I am re-installing XviD4PSP version 5.036, not the latest version but I am happy with it. It comes with an old version of Avisynth and I used to download an old copy of Xvid, from Winnydows XviD4PSP website, to use with it.
Should I uncheck Avisynth when I install XviD4PSP and instead download the very latest version of Avisynth from the web? Also would it be best to get the very latest version of Xvid from the Xvid website rather than using the older version from Winnydows XviD4PSP website?
I presume the latest versions are usually an improvement, but don't know whether the latest versions are compatible with a slightly older 5.036 version XviD4PSP.
Many thanks for any replies.![]()
p.s. Has anyone tried this version successfully with Windows 7? I am thinking of giving Windows 7 a go soon.

(Many plugins have been updated fpr 2.5, and there are workarounds for those that haven't.)
But scripts using built-in functions should be okay.
I'd just try the new version and see if it works. Easy to get an older one if you really need it. -
You might want to post over on the Winnydows forum for XVID4PSP. forclip is now the one that is putting development work into XVID4PSP and he is usually fairly quick to get back with answers. If you go to the XVID4PSP download links here (on videohelp) and download the beta version, I have had decent success with it (had issues with FCP and r25? versions). This is on Vista64 not Windows 7 though. At any rate, the beta version has updated codecs and avisynth.

Yes that's right and I think the very latest is only 2.5.8 now, so probably similar. I suppose I could try it like AlanHK says and just revert back to 2.5.7 if there are problems. I just did n't know whether it was standard practice to use the latest versions.
Thanks for the replies. -
Thanks Gavino I will definitely use the latest Avisynth version.
I think I will also use the latest version of Xvid. Their website says it compresses video, "Xvid can somewhat be seen as a ZIP for video." Hopefully it will be backwards compatible as well.
Thanks for the reply.
