ok...this really doesn't pertain to dvd ripping exactly...but i've wondered about it for awhile.
most widescreen dvds say that they "preserve the original theatrical aspect ratio"....yet how come they all have different aspect ratios then?
since they all have to play these movies on the same size movie screen at the movie theater, then don't all the movies need to have the same aspect ratio?

There's about 5 or 6 aspect ratios that movie makers use. Not just widescreen or Pan and Scan (like TV uses).
