I've just installed DVDFab v6.2.0.5 as a clean install, not an upgrade. It always defaults to my external DVD drive as the target (even when the drive is disconnected) and I have to manually set the target to Desktop every time. I've specified Desktop as the target on the General page of the Common Settings to no effect. Can I change the default action? I recall that, on earlier versions, I had it set to Desktop as the default.

Many programs like that and DVDdecrypter will default to the drive with the most space.
