Hey all, new guy here. I recently have been using Windows Movie Maker a lot, and am now researching bigger and better cameras to play with. Not much to say really, just looking to learn all I can before taking the next step into some quality video productions.

for new equipment, open your wallet nice and wide and close your eyes

for used, check Craigs List as video studios (especially wedding) go out of business
a few months ago, the CL bargains were tremendous - the $3-5000 wedding video was the first thing to get "cut" - these little home-made video studios soon failed after that ("Honey, it just didn't work...but we only lost $14,000...I'm going back to selling used cars")

but there's probably still some great bargains out there on CL
seems I even saw a gently used hi8 for $50, a HDV handycam for $200, and a GL-2 for $700 that were legit...

We have no idea of your intentions, budget or desire to learn?

If budget is large, best money spent is hire someone experienced to do it.

If you want to learn, start small and add when your experience requires it.

Best starting place is a community college production course. Use their equipment. Short of that, buy a used DV format camera cheap on Craigslist and some editing software.
