Hi,

I have the Arcsoft Extreme software that came with my hd pvr 1212. I have converted several m2ts files with it to dvd. I believe one of them was captured in 5.1 but didn't convert to 5.1 on dvd.

I have checked and it just has "ac3" audio as an option but doesn't specify multichannel ac3. Does it just downconvert everything to stereo?

FYI I did just update to the most recent version of the conversion software.

Part of the reason I ask is I'm interested in using it for dubbing blurays from my ps3 to the pvr and then converting to dvd that way instead of ripping with anydvdhd (which I have) and going the super long way (even on a dual core 2.7ghz amd processor).

I know it probably wouldn't be as "crisp" as going fully digital from disc to disc via anydvdhd but I have to imagine that doing a realtime capture over component from my ps3 to the hd pvr and then having its software make a "real" dvd with 5.1 would be the best way to go.

I know this would not include any hd audio information since that isn't carried over fiber optic only hdmi or multichannel out (multiplug jacks). But I don't have an hd audio receiver and besides dvd doesn't support hd audio anyway so thats not a big deal.

Side question - if the arcsoft extreme software does not allow for 5.1 dvd creation what is the best way to take captured m2ts files from the hdpvr and convert to sd dvds with 5.1? I do have Pinnacle Studio 12 plus with high def support but I've been told that isn't the best software for conversion needs.

I'm looking for practical ways to do this with limited user input. I know "one click" software isn't the best but since we're talking about long conversion times with hd to sd I'd prefer to just "set it and forget it" to quote Ron Popeil

Thanks.

FYI I do have a WDTV media player and a ps3 so I can do file playback and avchd but I still would prefer to create dvd backups for a wider playback option.
