    Hello everyone.

I recently purchased a Samsung HMX-H100 Hi-Def camcorder and as some of you might know, it records 1920x1080i at 30fps and 1280x720 at 60fps.

Both play excellent with Win7 media player but when I use Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 12 to burn an AVCHD disk, the highest setting 1920x1080i, shows only 15fps, of course, the H.264 files will play in slow motion.

I've tried Cyberlink Power Director 8 and it has no problems seeing and playing the files at 30fps, but I'm not crazy about the program.

My question is, does anyone know about any solutions to fix this problem with Pinnacle Studio?
I installed the latest update and that didn't do anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

It encodes the video to 15 fps, or it can only manage 15 fps when playing back in the preview window ?

Are you editing, or just creating a disc ? If you are not editing, you might consider Multi-AVCHD for quick authoring jobs.

It does both at 15 fps.
No major editing, just fade in/out and a basic dvd menu.

Cyberlink handles it without a glitch. But I'd rather use Pinnacle.

    Thanks, guns1inger.

The Samsung HMX-H100 does not follow the AVCHD standard. Call Pinnacle and ask if the camcorder is supported. My guess is it is not.

You need to decode the video to uncompressed YCbCr or convert to HDV (MPeg2) format to match Pinnacle supported import. I'd go for uncompressed 1280x720p/59.94 myself but Studio may only support 29.97p.

You may need to upgrade to Vegas Pro to get full control of this format.

Pinnacle Studio can handle 1280x720/59.94 fps with no problems, it's just the 1920x1080/60i it has problems with.

I guess that's what I'll do, just use the 1280x720/59.54 from now on.

Thanks so much for the help. I appreciate it.

1280x720p/59.94 is the ideal hand held format. You should use the highest bit rate the H100 allows.

Just out of curiosity, could these H.264 1920x1080/60i files be converted to avi. without any quality loss (or even with some loss)?
And if yes, which program would you recommend?

    Thanks.

Yes with substantial loss from deinterlace and recode. 1920x1080i is good if your destination is 1080i (e.g. AVCHD to Blu-Ray) but for progressive output you can't beat 1280x720p/59.94 acquisition.

But alas, I suspect you aren't after picture quality. You seem to want small files and adequate quality.

    You're right.
I'll just use the 1280x720/59.94 mode from now on.
I really don't want any quality loss.

Thanks again, I appreciate the help.
