    Hi,
I've got a video that a family member has mistakenly shot with the nightvision selector on; on a Sony DV Handy Cam. And I am trying to correct this problem with the video converted to MPEG2, but I'm having some problems with which filters/effects to fiddle with? As parts of the video have Blue and Blacks as a Green tint.
I have multiple programs, but currently trying to correct this with Premiere (not sure if this is the right program). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated? Thanks.

I don't think you'll ever be able to make it look normal.

  3. Your only real option is to make the video black-and-white. There will be almost no color information to recover.

The nightvision works by removing an infrared filter that is normally present and illuminating the scene with an IR source. The camcorder's sensor is very sensitive to IR, so much so that it will swamp the visible part of the image.

Having said that, can you post an example frame?

What I've done with a few of those videos: Using VirtualDub and the ColorMill filter. I used the Gamma to bring up the red levels, then adjust with the RED-GREEN-BLUE filter. What you end up with is a bit of a sepia tint video, with the flesh colors fairly close. Looks a bit strange, but worthwhile to try compared to a B+W video. There is really no color info there, so you will never be able to restore that. Try the 'sepia' tone and compare it to B+W and decide which one suits you.

Thanks everyone, I'll try that and let you know how it worked! =) I figured that this wouldn't be totally possible, but I'll give it a shot.
