The creators of DvdFab owe you, me, and all other non paying customers absolutely nothing. Why is that so hard for you to understand?Originally Posted by Bamahusker

ok well why did they create a free program then? as i mentioned earlier, companies either create a free one only ,a paid one only,or both. The way i see it,they should continue to update the free one almost as much as the paid one. otherwise the program is worthless. and anyone can tell you that. just like if they update the free one more then the paid one. no one would want the pay one anymore because the free one gets all the updates. I'm just saying, you know? Anyway,i'll just conclude that this is beyond my control and just end it because obviously i'm never going to find another one as good as Fab. Anyway, thanks for your time.

But i do understand what you mean though. anyway, let's just end it here and i apologize of i started anything and we can move on to something else. sound good?

Nothing is free forever. Eventually they'll try to get your money. I believe it's time to move on, and forget about DVD Fab because they'll only make it more difficult and more expensive. I'm looking at AnyDVD now, but doubt I will buy it. Perhaps soon there will be no good current ripping freeware available anywhere.

i hope so johnny. and AnyDVD is just as expensive as Fab,so i don't know if i'll go that route yet. If anyone knows of any good free ones, feel free to reply. Thanks.

I confess I never much liked DVDFabHDDecrypter. The vast majority of DVD discs can still be decrypted with DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter, et. al. For the odd one with new protection, one could resort to Fab, but it often would remap incorrectly, particularly when doing main movie . So the few times I used it, I'd do full disc, run FixVTS, and then open the rip with DVDShrink.
But in every case, I also found it possible to do a workaround to get movie only. The first one I remember was "The Forgotten", an early example of ARccOS protection. Easy, delete the first cell in DVDDecrypter, or use start/end frames in DVDShrink to do the same. There were threads here about that one. Casino Royale and Wall-E were discussed as well. IIRC, you could use the old DVDShrink 2.3 on Casino Royale, reauthor, choose VTS_01_0.IFO, delete the first second of the movie, backup, and recreate the VIDEO_TS.IFO with the old freeware DVDFab. Wall-E was more difficult but doable. If one is determined and willing to learn, workarounds are always possible. Often people will post their methods.
If you think you may be getting into backing up Blu-Rays, AnyDVD_HD is the way to go, and is the only reliable method at present. It's a bit pricey, but what's it worth to you? For DVD-Video the standard AnyDVD is cheaper.
It's often asked, why bother backing up?
For me, two reasons:
1) Multiple viewing locations. I don't want to hunt for the disc.
2) Menus, adverts, warning screens and PUOs. I hate them.Pull! Bang! Darn!

Not everything works on that either. and just like Shrink and Decrypter,Fix_VTS no longer updates,so it looks like no matter how you look at it,there's always going to be an issue. I guess as long as 98% of the DVD's out there still work on Fab,i guess i'll live with it for now.

I also have to note that Fengtao is a Chinese company, and in the PRC lifting intellectual property without recompense is out-in-the-open major commerce. Despite some legitimate uses, there has always been a trainload of "wink wink, nod nod" about this product. (No doubt you could say that about any of the rippers, but for them it's in spades. No one else lets you reformulate the output nine ways from Sunday.) I'm not going to make the next logical connection here, but you could probably guess . . . .When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.

Under the heading - No honor among thieves:
A search of "DVDFab" on thepiratebay.org shows a number listings for the pay version of DVD Fab with key. Am I the only one who sees humor in this? The pirates are stealing from the pirates on The Pirate Bay. Hollywood is losing revenue to piracy and Fengtao Software feels that they can not be expected to provide pirating software for nothing! They have expenses! Maybe Fengtao will join the major studios' lawsuits and prosecute for illegally downloading their proprietary product.Depends what the definition of the word inhale is.

funny thing as well is when you go to the order page,it tells you that if anyone is selling copies at Ebay,or anywhere but dvdfab, these are illegal. yet people are getting it from Piratebay. lol.

I guess the question is, Is it morally wrong to steal from thieves?
Much to my surprise , a search of "AnyDVD" on thepiratebay.org shows multiple results. What nerve. To pirate the hard work of other pirates! People in China are starving by God! One listing that caught my eye was, "AnyDVD & AnyDVD HD v6.6.0.3 FINAL + Reg By ChattChitto". It has 297 seeds and 32 leaches. I am mortified. Have these Cretons no sense of justice and fair play. It is one thing to steal from Hollywood and yet another steal from hard working programmers in China!Depends what the definition of the word inhale is.
