  1. The whole thing is about money

Why giveaway the most used tool in your software?
There is really only 2 players in town now. The other one charges for it's most used tool, so why shouldn't they do the same?

Sure it sucks. If or when some other tool comes along that is free, you have to play by their rules.

Exactly where did i say anything close to that ?

I basically said the same thing as jagabo and in response to your statement, they don't owe us anything.

Were lucky that of the billions of people in the world, and of the 1000's+ that write software, we at least have the TWO that we have that keep up on this issue.
Regardless if it's freeware or payware.

If hollywood had it's way, NO ONE would be breaking their copy protection.

    DVDFab 6.2.0.5 Updated!

    * New: Settings window is skinned now.
    * New: Updated language files.

    DVDFab "DVD to DVD":

    * New: Added support for a new protection as found on "Up".
    * New: Improved PathPlayer to support bonus disc of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen".
    * New: DVD writable media size limit was increased to support over burn.

  4. first of all,i was making a sarcastic point noah. you acted like i had no choice like i should always pay so i said that it seemed like there was no software existed anywhere and that's how i took it. secondly i know they updated the software but it didn't fix the issue. it still shows a "renew" error message. there should be more free DVD backup software is what i was getting at. not everyone has 50 bucks or 100 bucks or whatever it is,so that;s why free versions are for those people.

Drop the entitlement attitude. People like you are the ones that are ruining several industries with this retarded idea that everything should be free. DVDFab has a good product, and they expect reasonable compensation. It's a business. It's common sense. While $50-100 may be a bit much, I'd agree, insisting it should be "free" is just plain stupid.

Most freewares are for publicity, student projects, resume/portfolio building, proof of concept, etc. It's not because they like you or owe you anything. Be grateful for the freewares that do exist, but don't get this insane idea that everything should be free.

If buying groceries is such a problem, quit buying/renting/stealing DVDs, quit wasting time copying/watching DVDs. If you can't afford a loaf of bread, milk and some lunchmeat, you have much bigger issues to resolve.

  6. i'm not showing anyattitude, let alone entitlement attitude. all i said was is up until now Fab did both free and paid versions. so if you don't mind a paid version,go ahead. especially if you can afford it. But if you can't.the free software version is for you. The way it should be for a lot of software. But anyway,i guess i'm screwed.

I can't afford it either, so I'm not buying it. Then again, I don't see the need to copy all my DVDs, when I do buy them. For the times I do have such need, rare DVDs, DVD Decrypter still works fine most times.

No. Just wait a couple of months to buy your dvd. By then the free decrypter function of dvdfab would be updated.

Why do I get the distinct feeling that this DVD that won't rip and MUST be ripped NOW is going to turn into a pumpkin after 3 days?

  10. heh..I think this thread has turned into one..

  11. what do you mean hech? it can't copy now so it's already a pumpkin. lol. but i guess i'm just gonna have to live with it i guess. By the time i wait 2 months or whatever to copy them,i won't want to copy them anymore. That's kinda why i want the free one updated when the paid one is. But oh well. Sorry to bug you

So learn how to program an write some. And learn how to program well so you don't come out with some crappy POS. You owe it to us.

  13. well teach me then because i'm autistic and something like that would take me years to learn. anyway,i said i have moved on,so sorry to bug you.

  14. Contact 321 Studios, I hear they're hiring.

  15. and i don't know what pos is,but all i asked is "is there any free software apart from dvd fab, because the latest can't support the dvd i want" so i don't know how this ended up a hate and flame thread.

  16. yeah hiring for someone "experienced" maybe.... lol.

Um...if you won't want a copy in 2 months, why would you want one now?

Also, you said, "I'm screwed" in several of your posts. How so? Is something catastrophic going to happen to you if you don't copy UP today? And who is the party that is screwing you?

  18. because the dvd just came out now. that's what everyone does on those sites. if they like a DVD that came out on November 10th,then bought it,then copied it,they know it works. Sure there are some movies that maybe, just maybe,i can wait on,and that's fine in those cases, but dvd's i want now and i end up owning, wouldn't you want it backed up right now,and not 3 months from now? sounds logical to me. and to answer your second part, almost every DVD copy software cannot copy UP so that is why i am screwed. but again,i'll have to live with it and move on. Again sorry if i bugged anyone.

It took the DvdFab programmers years to learn how to program too.

No, you said you were OWED free software.

  20. no you said that i was owed free software. All i said was if it is a program that updates all the time, especially the free version, then they should still do it now. because of that, there are not many ree ones out there and i can never afford stuff like that. But anyway,i apologize if i started anything. i just wanted to know. Obviously there is no free DVD copy siftware that is free so i'll move on. Thanks.

  22. Can someone please summarize in 10 words or less, what is the time lag between updating the free version
of DVDFab, versus the pay version?
    Um, answered my own question.
In short, the free version will lag 30 to 60 days behind the shareware version with regard to handling protections.

  23. they owe all of us that

me vs all of us. there's a difference. saying "that's owed to me" would be saying "i'm the only one that deserves it,and i'm the only one that they need to pay attention to" i said "us" as in "everyone in this room. see the way i look at it is if they still charged but made it more affordable, like 20 bucks or something, then that would be something i can afford. i know 20 might also seem too cheap but you either chrge not enough,or you charge too much,so why not put it on an affordable budget for everyone?

  24. jim,it depends. sometimes it takes a week, while other times it could take a week and a half-2 weeks.

  26. haha.

  27. well i'm just going to close this by saying i apologize if i made anyone mad. Just wanted help, but it looks like getting a free version will not work anymore. Thanks.

"Me" is a subset of "all of us". If you say they owe all of us something you are also saying they owe you something. Since I certainly don't expect you to speak for all of us I asked you to justify why you think they owe you something. Since you haven't payed them anything they owe you absolutely nothing. You should be ecstatic that they give you the ability to rip your DVDs "30 to 60 days" after their paying customers.

    Yeah, it's a shame the software isn't $20. I'd buy that.

  30. ok,so you don't want a DVD backup software? if so,then you and i and everyone in here are "all of us". if it was just me,then your statement would be true, just as if you alone said what i said,it would mean they owe you. they go through the trouble to create a backup software for us to enjoy, and they chose to give us free and paid. If they only update Paid but not free, where does that leave me? i'm not gonna sit here for 3 months then they say "Free version now supports UP" then i go through the trouble of getting it,copying it,etc. i might want to see it now, rather then wait. i'm autistic with Asperger's Syndrome so you'd have to put yourself in my place to understand what i'm saying i guess, but i guess it's similar to how UP was just now coming to theater and i wanted to see it with my niece or nephew, but i never could get a chance to go. now it's off the theater so i gotta wait until it comes to DVD. the point is,why put off tomorrow what you can do today. Maybe it's my autistic thinkingbut it really is logical if you think about it.
