Streaming netflix movies on PS3 for FREE.

Just got an email from netflix about this.
I had no idea it was going to be available. I knew I could do it on my 360, but I don't have a Gold LIVE account so I never really looked into it.

At first I thought it was a scan because the email had a 'click here to get your disc' button and I've been getting a lot of spam from senders pretending to be PayPal and netflix, but I logged into my netflix account at there it was.
I should get my disc before the end of the week.

I had heard this. The catch is you'll have to have that disc everytime you want to watch it. It's kinda like a cablecard for a dvr I guess - a signature print authenticating your use of the service.

I'm still not thrilled with netflix because I don't rent enough to pay for a subscription. I used it before I got cable but now that I do I don't really rent enough to justify the extra cost.

Now I do like renting online once in awhile.

If the netflix on the ps3 was guarenteed in 5.1 I might be more interested.

Stupid question xylob - is this free netflix streaming WITHOUT being a Netflix subscriber????? I seriously doubt that but doesn't hurt to ask.......

Do they offer a download option? I"m sure streaming isn't as a good as a downloaded file no matter how fast your internet connection is.

No. It's streaming only.
You can download from the PSN store (as always), but it's a completely different selection than wha you get on your netflix account.

Well then have you tried netflix on your 360? I haven't yet - no account and don't want the bombardment you get when you sign up for free trials. But that might be different quality than the ps3 - although has sony still kept their library off the 360 netflix or did they finally settle that dispute?.

Yup. Scew LIVE. I paid $60 for this "multiplayer" game, now I have to pay more to play it with my friends? Pass.
It's FREE on PS3 and I don't need all that 'social networking' bullshit (Home is a waste of time), I just want to play games. Plus, I don't play online much anyway.
