  1. Hello All,

I have a 2 hour video that I need to a 20 minute section from and then burn that section to a DVD. The format of the Video is Mpeg-2. I would show you the Mediainfo information but I am at work. Will post that later. Anyway, I am using Vitrtualdub to cut down the video. Virtualdub has the conversion add-in so it can read Mpeg-2. I am able to cut down the video easily with Vurtualdub but when I play the reduced video from my hard disk (as a file) or when I burn the reduced video to a DVD and I play it in Windows Meida player, there is no sound. I also have VLC-Player (think that is what it is called. It has orange icons) on my PC and the video plays fine.

Since Windows Meida player is so popular, I want to covert the video to whatever format is suitable for Windows Meida player. I also do not want the user to have to go out and buy or download any plugins. I want the video to play on the standard Windows Meida player. Assume the latest version of Windows Meida player.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks, Bill

Cut the mpeg with mpg2cut2. I guess wmv will work best with windows media player, so try convert the mpeg2 to wmv using Windows Media Encoder or WMVMuxer or WMVConvert.
