I am getting a Sony Betamax sl-hf450 soon.
I need to know if it can:
    1) Play my family videos recorded on L750 & L500 with the majority of recorded in Long Play.
    2) Does LP mean Long Play or is that something totally different?
I really appreciate all of your help!
    Thanks, Suzy

  2. 1: Yes
    2: LP is Long play

Remember to adjust the tracking on the player for best picture quality.

  3. The SL-HF450 was one of the better BetaMaxes, an early SuperBeta variation. It gets VERY warm VERY fast, so don't lock it up in a closed cabinet or block its vent holes. Pay attention to the controls under the front flap: you might need to turn SuperBeta on or off, adjust the audio switches, and so on. The tracking control on this model uses the annoying imprecise electronic pushbuttons, so have patience and make multiple quick little presses to get finer adjustment (this is especially important with L750s in "LP" (Beta III) mode, and tapes that have hifi audio). To smooth out rough tapes, or add detail to good ones, you can adjust the Picture knob located under the tracking buttons. A slight turn makes dramatic changes, so again use a light touch. Enjoy!

Here's a neat site that will help you with your Beta machine...been going there for years. I enjoy Beta format over VHS, have several models myself which are kept up and serviced each year. My pride and joy being the SL-HF750 I own.
