I want to be able to convert some photos to a video that I can upload to youtube. I would like the software to have transitions, subtitles etc... the usual stuff. I see that photostory 3 will not install in a windows 7 computer so any other options.

According to the Windows 7 compatibility site, Photostory 3 should install and run under Windows 7. However you could also use the Live Movie Maker (download) to do this as well.

Edit : Have just installed Photostory 3 under Windows 7 and launched it without any problems.

Use VSO PhotoDVD for this, see if it works. Free trial available. (Get $2.50 OFF with coupon code VSO-FDE8-OFF)

I've used that a few times, like it. I bet it'll run in Windows 7.

Just tried the same thing a couple of nights ago. Get a 'invalid version of Windows' type of error.

This is the version I installed yesterday without any issue. Windows 7 32 bit Pro Edition. I suspect it will have problems if you are running Win 7 64 bit

I am running 64 bit. I have read that if you already had it installed then it will run but it will not do a fresh install after windows 7 is installed. Windows movie maker is ok but doesnt have the pan effect where it seems like the picture is moving during the time it is showing. Even wondershares photo to dvd is not yet windows 7 certified.

Yup, running 64-bit... No big deal though, plenty of other packages to do the same thing. I generally use Ulead DMF6 but the wife likes Photostory for quick one offs...

Yes, it does pan effect. I just played with it a bit. I'm not in Windows 7 PC right now, but I believe it's in the "Effects"

Just installed Photostory 3 under Win7 Pro 64 Bit. Thought I'd give it a try before falling back to virtual XP mode and no problems at all. Install as an adminstrator though.
