Hi
I am looking for a smart software to cataloging my videoclips from various camcorders.
My goal is to be able to seach with ease within the tags, and when the file is found, i want to be able to view it on TV.
So, the software should be able to playback the file. Its no use if its a great software for tagging files, if it cannot playback the file.
Ultimately, preferable, the tags should be visible for Windows 7, so i can search with media player, og media center for the right file.
Even my wife should be able to search within the software
Videofiles is extensions like, AVCHD, mpeg, mpg, VOB AVI etc, in various encoding formats.
Kind regards

It's the APP that makes one Computer better than the other - every-time
Anyone with 100's or thousands of video to catalog and view; will quickly realize that this is THE answer.

Being able to randomly play a grouping of large text along with the associated segment of a video is incredible. I don't think "this" can be done by any other app.
This app also catalogs Music, Pics and text
All cel phones can now shoot video. This Apps latest features make good use of those capabilities.
Video cataloging is completely different from Pictures. There are many segments in a video that may need explaining; from the perspective of shooter. RAW video doesn't include the whole story. And you can seldom verbally explain things on the fly. So large text with the video is the answer.
The Time-Line Playback method requires no editing; so you only have the original videos to catalog. No mess of tiny video snippets cluttering up your computer.
What a powerful training / teaching tool this app is.

When you have lots of data there is a need to randomly play it now and again to refresh your memories. Video without comments quickly lose their relevance.

With the above link you can download test video, along with the control file and FREE MultiMedia Application. This app works on Windows and Linux systems (and most likely the Mac)

What are you talking about SpectateSwamp? There's not even a link anywhere to any program that I could see? -
Maybe http://www.mediamonkey.com/
or http://www.jriver.com/
would suit. There is a free version of MediaMonkey you could try. The tagging on J. River looks excellent. -
http://www.telusplanet.net/public/stonedan/mla_questions.htm Shows how this app does random question and answers. You can insert the name of a picture or video and have it play between / before or after the text.
The above template runs from a USB stick

The text file listed here shows how to start and stop anywhere in a Mpg video as well play slowmotion and a replay of the same segment. You can switch to slow motion and back.
I needed the text ability to tell the users where to look on the video for the Faster Than Sight objects. Powerful software makes discoveries.
This app is the only one I need. I have all my emails since 1996. Over 6000 family album pictures and at least 10,000 mpg videos. It also does random sampling of audio mp3.
The VB5 app is at

good luck. This will be fun for you -
Yeah, yeah I've since found your program and it's pretty poor, in my opinion. I've even seen the garbled mess of source code underneath the abomination that is the interface as well as your grandiose pronouncement that it is the best program the world has ever seen.
You are doing nothing with video that other programs cannot already do and you only support MPEG? WTH? Oh, and your 'cataloguing' functionality seems to require that the user manually create text files for each of their videos. Real user-friendly... -
try renaming the search.exe to catmydrivegolf.exe
We videoed a couple of golf tournaments with 2 cameras at the Tee.
Within 10 minutes of getting off the course we were playing the videos back in full speed and then the last 3 seconds (the swing) were in slow motion. I don't know that other Multimedia players can do it anywhere near that fast.
About the source code? Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I can guarantee you that you have nowhere near the access to your data that I have.
The too goodies and the perfect perfects have been saying the same BS for years.
I have all my emails since 1996. How far back does yours go.
Yup this search is the best program on the planet.
The 2nd best one is here. I have written it at least 500 times doing Cablesystem and telephone billing conversions. Nobody did it faster or better than me.

I have been calling out folks to a Search Engine showdown for years. Nobody can touch this.
You know not of what you speak.
It also can do random text. For question and answer. With maybe a video or picture in the middle.

I'm sorry but your program is so un-intuitive that it defies belief. Why do you not provide instructions? And why should anybody need to rename an exe to get it to behave in a different mode? The best way that you can assert the superiority of your application is to provide information about how it works, surely?
btw, do all your programs crash when the local OS drive is not on 'c:\' as the code suggests? LOL -
I guess it's time to shoot video of how I use this app on a daily basis.
I use it to store and retrieve email addresses. Often passing on funny stuff sent to me to a list of 5 or 6 friends.
I use the app to store and return search stings that I have used on google.
I save URL addresses where I have made posts.
The info is saved along with the date in a format "17Mar2013" so if I want the links to recent comments I search for "Mar2013" and "comment"
I save all my comments (because many are removed by moderators) using cut and append into my main text file.
I save all non spam emails in an inmail.txt file and any I send go into outmail.txt. I open the emails and do a forward then Ctrl/A Ctrl/C followed by Alt/Tab to the app and use its append option.
It's handy to display text in matching lines only rather than "context" having 30 lines of matches show on the screen. Ie when looking for recent google "search for:" info.
Any text that displays on the screen can be saved to an output file as well. Useful when pulling email addresses from my inmail.txt and outmail.txt files.
Having my 6000 family pictures cataloged allows me to show off my old dead dog and my oldie family album pictures.
I'll show you how I hunt the Faster Than Sight objects that you can view if you download the videos, control text file and program as demonstrated in the following link:
http://www.telusplanet.net/public/stonedan/slomo_demo.htm
Being able to print large text before and or after a video segment allows me to tell the viewer just where on the screen they need to look to see the FTS beasties. They are there for those that want to look.
The most difficult part of the program was the hi-lite line wrap logic. I had to do a flowchart of it, to get the last few bugs out:
You can follow the logic in the source.txt file

Seriously, I appreciate that you took the time to make the above post but it's still about as clear as mud. Why not provide a summary of what it does rather than expecting people to know what your vague references are toward?
You should properly document what the app does and provide clear usage instructions somewhere that everybody can easily find and access. Again, looking at your code, I doubt very much that it is the best app on the planet. -
