    Hello everyone
I converted an old video tape to a DVD (data dvd, Xvid compression)
The Disc works well on my computer DVD drive but when i play it on a standard DVD device
the movie begins to leap After a minute or two
(I happens in two DVD players so I think the problem is not a defective DVD )
Does anybody have any idea what could be the problem?

DVD players that play Xvid/Divx encoded files usually require the files be encoded within pretty narrow specifications. This usually means no Qpel, no GMC, file sizes less than 2 GB, and bitrates less than 2000 kbps.

How did you encode your files, and to what specification ?

I encoded the VCR tape to DATA file on the hard drive with iuVCR (no compression )
I converted the uncompressed file to XVID with APEX AVI converter
The file size is only 510 MB and it's specification is:
    Image:
    320X240
    Audio:
    Duration:01:22:00
    Bit Rate: 56 kbps
    Audio format: MPEG layer-3
    Video:
    Frame Rate 25 f/s
    Data rate: 840 kbps
    Video sample size: 24 bit
    video compression: XVID

Aside from the very low resolution and low to average bitrates, there is little detail there to tell us what the video encoding really it. Try posting a Tree view from mediainfo.

I don't know APEX avi converter. I do know that there are several very good encoders that do produce player compliant files.

Your audio bit rate may be too low for your DVD player. I've heard of really low audio bit rates causing problems. Anything below 96 kbps may be problematic. Personally I would not advise using anything below 196 Kbps so that your sound is OK, but if you must go lower, don't go below 128 Kbps.

Here is a link to a sticky that lists options that can cause playback problems when trying to play Divx/Xvid files in a DVD player.

I attached the info file made by MediaInfo.
I downloaded "MPEG4 Modifier" and noticed my file's Bitstream is packed -it's a cause of DVD players problems
I will unpack it and report....
