  1. "The process cannot access the file xxx/dolby.bat because it is being used by another progress"

I know question was asked some time ago, but I had this issue just today.
Which brought me to this thread when searching for an answer.

    Editing HKCU\Software\Freeware\MKV2AC3\workingFolder helped
    I changed from K:\ to D:\
Seems like reference to external drive that is disconnected

As far as I can see you're using Aften method, because that file "dolby.bat" is only generated in that method

You can use EAC3TO method instead which is straightforward without all that external files

anyway, that issue is related with your system file that is managed with your Operating System

As I said many times before, I don't have Windows 8 and I don't pretend to upgrade to that garbage.

My systems are Windows 7 and XP

This is a .Net application, it runs over any net framework, I mean.....that is what Microsoft says

I just downloaded and installed it 'MKV2AC3' under Windows 7 Pro x64, and tried it on a large MKV file (29 Gb). I chose "aften" method, disabled "AC3 normalize" and specified an output folder. Then I started it.

It spent a while extracting audio from the MKV file (Task Manager showed that it was running 'mkvextract.exe' for that). After extracting audio it immediately stated that "MKV remuxed with success". It asked me to check my output folder. So I did. The folder was empty.

That "MKV remuxed with success" message appeared instantly after extracting audio, meaning that the program didn't even try to remux anything. There is simply no way to do it so quickly for a 29 Gb file.

So, the program obviosuly does not work. Is there any trick I missed to make it work?

did you tried the other method ( eac3to ) ?

aften method is very dependant of your codecs and several external tools that could not work in a particular system

eac3to uses only this tool, as like popcorn audioconverter

  5. Hi Delta

    I'm running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
    MKV2AC3 version 1.03.04
    eac3to v3.27

I also get the error "The process cannot access the file xxx/dolby.bat because it is being used by another progress" when batch converting mkv files using aften.

When using eac3to as method, I get other errors, but can fix the, if the source files and folders does not contain "spaces". I figured this out by opening the log file from eac3to, and seeing that it tries to convert ex. "Test Movie", but without the " ", and then errors, that it can't find the file Movie...

But this however is not a great workaround, as I have to rename all foldes and files before being able to use the eac3to method.

I really want to use the aften method, as described by others gives a louder output. But the dolby.bat error comes up, BUT only when batch processing, it is almost like the MKV2AC3 forgets, to clear out old files, before making new files.

When trying to run the dolby.bat file manually afterwards, it can't find the auido file, even though MKV2AC3 stated it was successful.

I'm am still trouble shooting, but would like some advice, from anyone, who have experienced the same problem, and may have found a solution.

Edit: Figured it out, but don't understand why!!?!?!!

If I rename movie from ex. "Test Movie" to "Test Movie (2014)" it works. I have no idea why, and the program only fails on some movies, but then i just rename moviefile and folder by adding ex. (year), and it works.

Now can anyone explain why this helps ?

adding only the year ?! that's very strange

the program was designed to deal with long path names and special characters

can you test it in another system with windows 7 ?

I have Win 7 32b and have no problems, maybe is something related with your folder options or something, hide extensions for knowing types for example...or something else

Hello guys first post here on the video help forum.

So I've been using MKV2AC3 for the past year and I must say it's quite simple to use. I have had much success converting many MKV video files from DTS to ac3 using this tool. However I can't seem to convert files that have DTS Master audio. Instead I get an error message mid conversion that prompts windows to search for a solution to the problem. This happens using the aften method. I haven't tried eac3to as I can't seem to figure out how to create a path for it. What am I missing?

Sorry for the newbie questions btw!

    just download eac3to

then in mkv2ac3, in the second tab, select eac3to method and there is a new option to select the eac3to executable

    Hi guys,

I've been using MKV2AC3 for a long time and I think it's a must have program for anybody who like to watch movies at home. But after using it many times, I had an error says that:

ERROR! Check if you have a 64Bit MKV2AC3 version C:\A\Desktop\ExampleFile.mkv

Conversion from string "7 / 6" to type 'Integer' is not valid.

I searched the internet, and that's how I found this website.

In post #67 "Monkeypoo" mentioned the same problem and in post #72 "Delta2" has a solution for it.

There is a link to download a new EXE file for MKV2AC3.EXE but the link is dead.

Delta2 or anyone, could you please help me?

    Thanks!

just uninstall/remove completely your version of mkv2ac3 from your system, and download a new fresh one, from this site

here is where you get the last and complete versions, because I'm the developer and I don't have any other site, or thread for help besides my own email that you get from the program itself - check that buttons and you will find my email

that error is very old and fixed in the new setup available for download

Thanks, I removed mkv2ac3 as you said and then downloaded the new version but now I have a different error.

Now the program starts to processing but after it says "Audio extracted with success", first the computer says "wavi.exe stopped working" and then the program says "ERROR! Try the other method of conversation". And I tried two different files.

Aften method is very dependent in your codecs and external tools such as Wavi, and AviSynth

    was avisynth well installed ?!

Keep the temporaries files ( select that option ) and see if you can play/run the scripts manually, does they give any error ?!

Eac3to method has is own libav/ffmpeg libraries build-in, doesn't need all that external tools, and is faster

    mkv2ac3 supports both methods

  14. Hi Delta2,
first of all thanks a lot for developing such a simple and perfect program, for me is definetely the best.
I was using it for a long time without any problem for mkv movies to convert DTS to AC3 audio using aften method. But now wavi.exe has stopped working message appears and I can´t convert anymore. I don´t know why it appears. Do you have any sugestion? I tried the other method eac3o, but when I click the start button it wont start as the message appears select aften method or give a path to eac3o executable file. I don´t know where to find the path to eac3o executable, when I click on browse and open folder with the movie (sometimes the movie folder´s not there), it´s empty :/...I downloaded eac3o as well and put the folder eac3o to the MKV2AC3 folder...I´m beginner in this things, so please give me some advice please.
I was realy satisfied with the aften method, is there a way how to get rid of the wavi.exe problem?
If not, how to use the eac3o method?

    download EAC3TO

then in the second tab (Audio Options):

select eac3to method, it will open the part where you must select the eac3to executable

just click browse and point to the folder where you downloaded eac3to

    ---

aften method is very dependant in your system stability since it uses your local codecs and a lot of external tools, any malfunction in your system some of that external tools stops to work

you should use eac3to method, it is faster and more reliable anyway

  16. Hi,

I've been using MKV2AC3 successfully on an XP computer for awhile now and find it invaluable. I've just tried to install it (and remove it and reinstall it) on a Windows 7 computer and it won't even open. I just get the message, "MKV2AC3 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program" And all I can do is close. No clue as to what is causing the problem. I have Net Framework 4 installed. I tried to change the compatibility mode to XP SP2 (which I had on the other computer), but nothing. Do I need something else? Do you need more information? Thanks.

did you tried to remove .Net 4.0 ?! did you tried "Run as Administrator" ? try also version 64b of mkv2ac3, who knows if it works...

try to use Event Viewer to see if there is more detailed information

Process Monitor can also give some clue about what crashed the application

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645

    ( apply a filter to Process name MKV2AC3.exe )

check also this windows tweaks :

No, and I don't think I will. Who knows what might break after doing that? The Win7 is 32-bit so I don't think I'll install the 64-bit version.

As for the rest, I'll try them out. Thanks for taking the time to link to them.

  22. Me again,
Event Viewer showed some sort of an error and did nothing. Process Monitor showed thousands of lines of data, none of which I understood. I tried some of the suggestions from the third link and none did anything. I guess I'll use your somewhat inferior competitor, Popcorn MKV Audio Converter, which works on the computer with no problems. Thank you for trying to help.

Process Monitor shows all program requests to the system from the start, of course you should filter to mkv2ac3, and focus in the last lines where the error occurred.

  24. Yes, you mentioned using the filter in Process Monitor earlier and I didn't do that. But when I try I have no idea how to do it so it's still no help.

    menu Filter--->Filter

    Process Name --> is ---> MKV2AC3.exe

    ADD and OK

when you start mkv2ac3 it shows all system requests, the list is sorted by time

the last lines is where it shows the error that crashed, OPERATION is the request that crashed the application, the RESULT column should say something different than SUCCESS

one set of the last instructions are REGISTRY read/write, there is where the applications saves your options. If you don't give permissions to access the registry the application eventually will fail to start. That's why you must start it as "Run as Administrator", or check some antivirus or something else that is preventing changes in the registry.

I will try to build a new EXE without registry access, and in Win 7

and here is a full portable edition for all CPUs

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/o4ai72vc406g6g6/MKV2AC3_portable_anycpu.rar

this is a full package but without setup or installer, if you extract the contents it will create a new folder named "mkv2ac3"

Sadly, no. Same thing. I may have gotten closer to opening it because I got warnings from Avast Antivirus, something I didn't see before. I OK'd it for Avast but the end result is the same - it still doesn't open, still with the same message. I'm enclosing Process Monitor logs in two different formats.

    thanks for the logs

I can't do this alone, so you must be patient to debug this complicated issue lol

something is wrong in your system because I have just what you have : Windows 7, 32b, frameworks 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0

and everything works fine with me, and it is not only me but many other users with win7 and even with 64 versions

    your logs shows errors :

    mscorrc.dll - NotFound
    SwDRM.dll - NotFound

I changed the program framework target for 4.0, lets see what happens ( it was 2.0 due to compatibility issues with xp users )

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/cff7chncq2a1kmb/MKV2AC3_NET_4.rar

    update the EXE file

and I saw that you use another device other than C, change all mkv2ac3 main folder to C

as for the antivirus, my Comodo pops up also, as I said it is due to registry savings, you must give it full access for that

Yes, I freely admit something's wrong. Yours isn't the only program I use that worked on XP and doesn't work in Win7, while they work for most (all?) other Win7 users. Sometimes programs that don't work have a button to click to debug the problem. I try and then they spit out a message about not having a JIT Debugger. I don't know if it's related to my problem with MKV2AC3.

I uninstalled MKV2AC3 at the previous location and reinstalled it in Program Files. I installed the version to which the links in this thread take you, Version:1.03.04. I elected not to install AviSynth as I'm tired of programs messing up my AviSynth installation. I then switched the MKV2AC3.exe with the one inside of MKV2AC3_NET_4.rar which you provided in the previous post. And nothing. MKV2AC3 still doesn't open.

I'm enclosing logfiles from this most recent attempt to get the program going. Thanks for your continued support.
