It´s not super important but is there a way to figure out if the video is available in a higher resolution?

You can use youtube-dl on the command line to get higher qualities.

3128 is the highest quality.

legos, any downloader that can handle https redirect with referrer in header. IDM is an easy choice, but there are numerous extensions that will work if you have some sort of aversion to IDM.

UIt captured the files 720p at 1.12gb and 1080p 2.45gb for example, but it only plays the first 5-10 sec then it is all black.

Widevine is encrypting videos, only first few frames of the video, generally less than 10 seconds are non-encrypted and can be viewed.

I have tried with Replay Media Catcher and with this program I can download the video while it is playing, but to see it with VLC gives an error:

The Download Helper add on for Firefox doesn't work properly with the new Firefox 36. I had to revert back to the previous Firefox or try a beta or alpha version of a new version of Download Helper that they are working on. I am so used to the download helper that I really missed not having the use of it. Of course it isn't the brightest idea to revert back to an earlier version of Firefox but hopefully the new fully tested Download Helper will available soon.
