Just picked up a LG DVD Player from Tesco a DVX492h. And am looking for a region Hack. I have tried three of the suggestions, namely
    (1) ejecting the disc tray, and while it's open hit 0 - 0 (two zeros) on the remote. Then enter 0 for the region code (for all regions.) But for me that did not work.
Also (2) downloaded a file RMTM0000 and burnt onto a disc slipping this in to the player where I should have received a blue screen revealing current Region Code 2 and inviting me to pick another from a full list, I received a firmaware update screen from, which basically froze the player.
And lastly (3) downloaded a file from http://www.box.net/shared/v07pyb4e9x and burnt that onto a disc which the LG player only came up with 'Check Disc' not reading/understanding it.
Would greatly appreciate any other suggestions to enable my region 1 discs a descent airing. Why on earth they aren't all region free theses days beats me. Oh for an easy life . . . . :P

Hollywood hates region free DVD players. In fact, the BluRay licensing agreement forbids any BluRay player from being manufactured in region free mode for either DVD or BluRay playback. Hollywood has convinced all the major manufacturers to stop making DVD players that can be made region free. If you can believe this, Hollywood actually believes that doing so will reduce piracy. In fact, it will increase it as now people have no incentive to buy legal DVDs from outside their own regions and they'll simply turn to rips on P2P networks on newsgroups rather than buy a legal DVD their player won't play.

Any of the following could be responsible for your problem.
    1) LG changed the hardware and it broke all the hacks that used to work. This happens a lot.
    2) The hack works, but only players sold in another part of the world, such as region 4. This is due to hardware differences between your player and those in other parts of the world.
    3) The instructions are erroneous and some key bit of information is missing and until you stumble upon it, you won't be able to hack your player.

It's getting harder everyday to find any players that can be made region free. Sony and Samsung are some of the most difficult in the world to make region free at this time. Maybe someone will read your post and provide a solution that works for you, but the odds are against you.
