    hi

I was wondering which digital camcorders have a view finder like the Sony HDR XR520V. I'm looking for a digital Hi-Def camcorder that has a view finder and performs very well in low lighting.

    Are there any recomendations?

    Thank you

The HDR XR520V is high definition and does have a viewfinder.

Generally, larger sensors (and larger lenses) perform better in low light. What is your budget?

Canon Vixia HG21: LCD screen and through the lens viewer; 120gig hard drive storage. Shoots 1920x1028 AVCHD (and lower). Side thought: Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultra will accept AVCHD, the only thing I have to do is save my video to a file on my desktop and then Pinnacle will import from there. For some reason Studio won't "see" it in the camera, but possibly I am doing something wrong. So far I am extremely pleased. Like all digitals, does not do well after the sun goes down in twilight situations. However, I use the camera to video my home for insurance proof, and it responded really well to indoor lighting and tungsten, excellent color and resolution. General results are really great, deep color and awsome resolution.

about 1000-2000 australian dollars. I did have a look at the Sony XR520V but the reviews are mixed with regards to the low lighting.... do you have any other suggestions?

I tend to favor HDV format for other reasons but check out the reviews for the Canon HV, HF and HG series.

Next step up for low light would be a used Canon XH-A1 or Sony HDR-FX7. Also check out the ~$1500USD HVR-HD1000U intended for shooting weddings. Check the reviews for low light capability.
