    Hi, I'm just translating some subtitles and I want to type my name at the beginning and the ending of the movie. the normal subtitle starts like this :

    1
    00:02:20,331 --> 00:02:25,822
    blahblahblah

    2
    00:02:31,000 --> 00:02:33,992
    blahblahblah

    3
    00:02:39,470 --> 00:02:44,461
    blahblahblah

    so how can I add something at the beginning? if I just type something, I mean like this :

    00:00:01,331 --> 00:00:20,822
    Translated By : XXX

    1
    00:02:20,331 --> 00:02:25,822
    blahblahblah

    2
    00:02:31,000 --> 00:02:33,992
    blahblahblah

    3
    00:02:39,470 --> 00:02:44,461
    blahblahblah

    it shows with DivX player like VLC and KMPlayer but when I burn it into a dvd-r and play on computer or dvd player, the beginning and ending text just disappear. so It seems the problem is about that the normal subtitle starts with 1 and 2 and 3, so I should make a "1" at the start, but if I do such a thing the rest of the numbers get mixed

    Thanks in Advance

    SRT subtitles have to each have a number, starting from 1. So inserting one by text editing is a pain, you have to renumber them all. Much easier to use a subtitle editor, like Subtitle Workshop, as guns1inger said, which renumbers automatically.

    Aside from the numbering, the times must not overlap.
    Your inserted sub ends after the next one starts, that will cause an error.
