  1. Hello,
I am going to attempt to convert a 16:9 DivX format of Gladiator so I can play it on my new 16:9 big screen HDTV. Do I need to retain the 16:9 for my SVCD? or can I just burn a 4:3 and select 16:9 mode on my DVD player? Thanks- Aaron

  2. Maybe I should be more specific: if I encode and burn 4 to 3, but than play it 16:9, will it be distorted?

  3. You can only burn a SVC at these resolutions:
    480x480
    480x576
So, I dont think you can actually burn at 16:9, what you will have is the black lines above and below the movie.
I may be wrong, but as far as I can understand the above resolutions are your only choice.
I use TMPGEen and select 'FULL SCREEN-KEEP ASPECT AND RATIO' in settings, that gives me the letterbox mode. I dont know what your TV is capable of (cutting the black segments above and below the movie), but the actual final movie that you will create for burning will need to be as above.
    Hope this helps.
