Ive been using Windows Movie Maker and have had no problems importing files that I have downloaded from the net as AVI files.

But when I try to import a file that I have converted to an AVI file into Movie Maker I get an error message.

I have tried about 6 different conversion tools and have had no success with any.

The latest one I tried was Any Video Converter. When I attempt to import the converted AVI file I get the following error message:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Any Video Converter\AVI\Watts_0001_xvid.avi could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does the video play if you load it into Media Player (WMP, not MPC or MPC-HC)?

Load the AVI into GSpot, and post a screenshot of the results here.

    Try installing the Xvid codec.
