Hey guys, I have a VHS tape with some really old technical videos on it that I'm trying to copy for my Dad using a VHS/DVD recorder.

In particular, I'm interested in a 12 minute section at the very beginning.

Unfortunately, the first 8 minutes of this film is black and white rather than being color, and at about the 8 minute mark, suddenly becomes colored again.

This is. . . a little peculiar, and sort of annoying. What is the cause? Is there any remedy? Could I fix this with software?

    Thanks!

Try adjust tracking and if that fails try another vcr, maybe a tbc will help.If it was copied that way then there is no fix for it.

If the original tape has the same b&w parts then it cant be fixed,if only the copy has b&w parts then tracking or another vcr and tbc might help, hard to say until you try it.

Could it be the copy protection on the tape or the VCR itself? How old of a VCR are you using? The older ones seem to allow tapes to be copied easier. I used to use a Panasonic VHS Camcorder to copy my VHS Tapes, miss that thing.
