Long time lurker and converter of DVD's no problem
I have been converting Blu ray movies, transformers and iron man to mkv files using ripbot, tsmuxer etc.
Both converted well and the quality is excellent, the issue is that the video stutters.
I have a quad core AMD phenom II overclocked at 3.6ghz with 4Gb Ram and a ATI hd4350 video card running windows 7. ITs fast and has zero problems playing the original Bluray at all
Im have tried using VLC player to play the MKV along with KMPlayer anf both stutter when playing both MKV's
Is there something im doing wrong, i dont think so, so is there a player that can play the files properly?
any help is much appreciated
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Maybe this should be in the Blu-ray to AVI/MP4/MKV/WMV section?
Can an admin please move it? -
Have you tried MPC-HC? It's more optimized for HD playback. If it still stutters, you may have a problem with your video card drivers or hardware acceleration isn't working correctly with your card. In VLC, did you check 'Tools>Preferences>Video>Accelerated video output (Overlay)'?
I have a ATI 3870 and it has no problems with MKV playback.
And welcome to our forums. -
Thanks for the welcome guys and thanks for moving this thread baldrick.
I have no problem playing MKV files of converted DVD's on my PC with VLC and yes the Accelerated video output (Overlay) is checked . This is the first time i have tried to play a HD file, however I was fairly confident that it was converted properly.
Anyway i tried using MPCHC, already had it on my PC but never used it, and it seems to play ok, no stuttering!
Ill test it more tomorrow as its now 2am here but it seems to be ok
Thank you very much for the help! -
Well i have tried to mux the mkv i had to a M2TS file and try and play it with powerdvd as it played the original blu ray no problem but it had stuttering problems too!
Im now trying to extract the raw 30Gb file as a M2TS file and play that with powerdvd to see if it stutters, we shall see..... -
I haven't heard of any drivers causing issues, but I'm suspect of some other codec packs. It sounds like you had several media players installed and I'm wondering if you had a conflict between a few different video codecs (just a guess, though.) I'm glad it's working now, but I have not seen that particular issue before so I don't know what else to tell you.
