    Ok, to start off....
I just bought a WDTV media center. I have ripped about 15 dvds to my hard drive so far and everything looks great. However, I ran into 1 DVD that I am having issues with. When ripping (using dvdshrink) I unchecked the preference box for breaking up vob files into 1gig sections, therefore giving me 1 main vob for the movie video and audio.

    The problem....
when I play the vob on my computer it works great. when i play it on my wdtv, the movie audio is replaced with the director's cut audio. So I started playing around with the vob on my desktop. when i convert it to mp4 or mov, it does the same thing. Therefore I suspect the wdtv is converting the vob to one of these formats.

Does anyone know how to convert this so it keeps the correct audio with the video?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

You could use DVD Shrink to remove the director's commentary when you are making the single VOB.

I am currently in the process of trying that. Although on this dvd, it does not show up in dvdshrink which audio file is the commentary. I am trying the largest file now as I would guess the movie audio would be larger than the commentary.

also, I tried playing it again and turned the volume way up. the movie audio is there but very low in volume. so the commentary is over laying it and is of normal sound level.

    Thanks

Some commentaries are recorded in isolation, some have the movie audio quietly in the background. It varies from disc to disc.

You can use the preview in DVD Shrink to determine which audio track is which.

I tried the preview but no matter which audio file i selected, it never changed.... thought that was weird.

    Anyways,
I have a rip with one of the audio tracks selected that converted ok on my computer. I am copying it over to my external drive now to try on the wdtv. will update shortly.

    Thanks

At last. I got it. however, I had to convert it back to vob as for some reason the wdtv did not recognize it even tho it is suppose to support mp4 files.

    Anyways... Resolution:
rip using dvdshrink and only checked the largest size english audio file.

    Thanks guns1inger
