I bought an iomega ego portable drive from newegg recently. Plugged it in and the light went on, but wasn't recognized. Plugged it into two other computers and it worked fine. Iomega took the drive back and sent another and the same problem. I don't know why it's not working with the one computer I need it to work on. Any ideas? Other USB devices work fine....

More information is needed. All using the same operating system? The computer using hubbed USB ports? Plugging it into a rear usb port also containing a USB printer?

    all same OS, WinXP
Tried the front ports and the ones in the back too. Not sure what hubbed means? There is no hub, the ports are part of the computer (case in the front and mobo in the back)

With the device connected, start -> control panel -> administrative tools -> computer management -> storage disk management and look to see if the device shows here possibly listed, but otherwise greyed out.

In reference to "hubbed" the usb ports in a computer are usually interconnected on the motherboard like 4 in back and 2 in front. Many people have gripped on sites that the WD USB HDDS were faulty (disconnecting and reconnecting or just randomly disconnecting and requiring a reboot) this happens when hubbed ports have a resource heavy device (the HP 1210 printer for example) causing competition for the USBs resources. I solved mine by inserting a USB expansion card. This can be tested by turning off your PC, unplugging your printer, plugging in your USB HDD and turning on your computer.
