End goal: I have a DVD I want to extract the core movie, then burn it to another DVD so that the movie starts playing immediately without a menu.

I used DVD Decrypter to extract the VOB files.
I used IFOEdit to convert the VOB files to an IMG.
I used DVD Decrypter to burn the image to a DVD.

The DVD didn't work. WMP didn't recognize it and neither did other DVD software. Windows loads the created DVD as a data disc without any files.

I'd like to try other FREEWARE that can convert the VOB files to an IMG. Suggestions?

DVDFab HD Decrypter will do what you want ... load disc or video_ts folder on hd ... select main title only... output as iso... hit start and wait... play on pc prior to burning to media so as to check play back.

Does the free version of DVDFab HD Decrypter output an ISO file? I've had versions that did....and some that didn't.

The latest free versions don't allow it, if I remember correctly.

Rip the disc with DVDFab HD Decrypter, movie only to your hard disk then using DVDShrink convert it to ISO. Both programs are free.
The conversion to ISO only takes a few minutes.

  6. And as we all know, the DVD doesn't have to be converted to ISO in order to be burned. So you can save the convert to ISO step and just burn it after getting the main movie.

If this is just for burning, why dick with an ISO ? Just rip the movie only content to a video_ts folder, and if it fits, burn with imgburn in build mode by selecting the video-ts folder. Imgburn will set itself for DVD burning, and you are done.

I don't think any of the software you are using has been updated in the last 2 years.
