I've been using DVDShrink for many years. I've been using it with this same hardware/OS setup for a couple years. Lately hit a couple snags.

I was trying to backup my DVD of East of Eden (Kazan version).

The resultant DVD plays fine on VLC (menus, everything) but in my Insignia standalone, it displays unwanted English subs and skips straight to the final scene!

    Any ideas??

    The setup:

    Win XP SP3
DVDShrink (using DVD Decrypter I guess)
    Optiarc DVD-RW
    Insignia standalone DVD player

    Thanks!

Thanks, but I don't quite understand.

It is only ok to discuss software that costs money?

I cannot ask a question here about open source software??

If you are ripping from the original disc using Dvdshrink, that might the cause of your issue because shrink has NOT been updated in YEARS for newer copy protection on retail dvd's!

And you can use DVD Fab Decrypter for FREE to just rip a disc then use shrink to compress it for a dvdr.

Just to clarify: stiltman's term "no longer supported" simply meant that the developer is no longer updating the software. It does not mean the mentioned software is a taboo subject to discuss.

As Noahtuck mentioned, DVDShrink hasn't been updated in a LONG time, and is often confused by the kind of copy protection on newer DVDs. Follow his advice.

    Thanks for your replies.

And you're right, I had misunderstood stiltman's reply.

    I'm looking into DVDFab now.

  7. Guess I could have been more specific

And since no one else said it, welcome to the forums

It's also best to read the sticky at the top "Sticky: I can't rip with DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter"
