Hi everyone,
I've a problem with capturing extra high grade tapes. The capture method I use is firewire passtrough trough my camcorder.
I've here 2 tapes that are extra high grade and extended play (180min>360min).
When I want to capture them, there is problem after around 1 hour. It looked good before the capture, but after I watch (I wasn't home during the capture) it it's horrible. Scenes wich before capture played normal are now bad. It plays around one hour ok but after that the problem starts and that on both tapes.
I've already 3 VHS player, one can't play it, the other asswell (but on TV it plays good) and one wich plays good but after one hour the problem starts.
Here is a sample

The problem come from auto tracking. The tape is recorded in long play and for a verry short time the vcr switch to standard play and then back to long play. Synchronization signal disappears and the camcorder is placed in a difficult situation.
I suggest you to set tracking manually. The setting is kept until you remove the tape. A better vcr, with better tracking may will also can help. -
Thanks for your answer!
I went to a used stuff store and tested it on an another VCR and so far it plays normal. Now I've 4 VCR players and hope this is the last oneThe flag once raised will never fall!
