I am capturing VHS tape to mpeg 2 with EasyCap and Ulead VS 10 and burning to dvd. Everything looks fine till it gets to the Philips dvd player - which plays everything else fine. Then I am getting jitter in motion scenes or when the camera pans. I have tried different resolutions and bit rates to no avail. Also used CloneDVD and Imgburn. Seems the geater bit rates exacerbate the problem. I have captured vhs before when I had a hauppauge pvr-250 and had no problems like this. Looks fine on computer.

Keep the birates below 9000 kbps and you should be fine in that area.

Post a sample here (just cut a small section of action with the problem - 1 -2 MB is enough) so we can see the issue. My suspicion is that somewhere in your process you are swapping the field order. Mpeg-2 captures are usually TFF.

Bitrates are below 8K. If I capture to AVI I don't have the problem. I will try reversing the field order. It is BFF now.

Well, that did it. Field order wrong. Works great now! Many thanks!
